QUOTATIONS ABOUT GRIEF AND HEALING Compiled by Sandy Plone, Ph.D. For those who have suffered losses, which is part of being alive, quotations and poetry can often be soothing. Symbols and metaphors may speak in ways that touch the depth of feelings. Here are a few from both well-known and unknown sources from the literature: Death is beautiful when seen to be a law, and not an accident – it is as common as life. As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well used brings a happy death. Death ends a life, not a relationship. Love is stronger than death even though it can’t stop death from happening, but When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Tears are the silent language of grief. He that conceals his grief finds no remedy for it. To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die. Death is a challenge. It tells us not to waste time…it tells us to tell each other The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone.
